Enrollment is open for two courses taught by prof. Massimo Donelli, a member of the CSSC board and Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Trento. These courses will be offered during the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, from February 24 to June 6, 2025:
- Decision Support Systems for Safety and Security. The necessity of ensuring safety and security has emerged as a critical challenge across various domains, ranging from critical infrastructure protection to emergency response planning. The course offers a comprehensive exploration of how decision support systems (DSS) based on wireless information and communication technology (ICT) are leveraged to make informed choices in complex safety and security scenarios. This course provides an in-depth understanding of the principles and applications of decision support systems tailored to safety and security contexts in the framework of civil engineering. Participants will delve into the integration of data-driven approaches, risk assessment methodologies, and real-time information management to enhance decision-making in high-stakes situations. To complete the didactic offer, various numerical exercises (exploiting SW programs) will follow the theoretical lessons. - ICT Methods and Technologies for Energy Management, Transmission, and Control. In the rapidly evolving landscape of modern energy systems, the effective management, transmission, and control of energy resources have become paramount for ensuring sustainability, efficiency, and reliability. The course offers a comprehensive exploration of the pivotal role that information and communication technologies (ICT) play in addressing the challenges and opportunities within the energy domain. This course delves into the integration of advanced ICT methodologies and technologies to optimize energy utilization, enhance transmission efficiency, and enable real-time control strategies. Students will gain a deep understanding of the theoretical foundations and practical applications of ICT solutions tailored to the energy sector. To complete the didactic offer, various numerical exercises (exploiting SW programs) will follow the theoretical lessons. The courses will be conducted in a blended format (both in-person and online). Participation is free for students of the University of Trento. For external participants (who choose to take the exam), a fee of €216 is required (€180 for each additional course). Materials (slides, documents, video recordings) will be made available to all enrolled participants.
The courses are offered as part of the Eledia research center – the University of Trento.
