It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the sudden and premature passing of Benedetto Di Ruzza, Associate Professor of Experimental Physics of Fundamental Interactions and Applications at the University of Foggia.
During his time in Trento, Benedetto worked closely with the Institute for Security and Safety Sciences and later with the Centre for Security and Crime Sciences, particularly through joint initiatives with the Trento Prosecutor’s Office and the Regional Command of the Guardia di Finanza.
In those years, we had the privilege of knowing someone who was always cheerful, kind, and generous — as well as a researcher of remarkable rigour, competence, and intellectual vitality. His curiosity, his humanity, and his natural attitude for building bridges across disciplines will remain a lasting example for us all.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go to his wife Fiammetta, his family, and all those who loved him.
Farewell, Benedetto.
