Presented on April 16th at Vinitaly (Verona), VERIFOOD marks a significant collaboration between the Central Inspectorate for the Protection of Quality and the Repression of Fraud in Agri-Food Products (ICQRF) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry (MASAF), and the CSSC.
The primary goal of this agreement is to safeguard Italian Geographical Indications, particularly in the online sphere where fraudulent activities such as usurpation, evocation, and imitation are proliferating at an alarming pace.
During the unveiling event, Felice Assenza (Head of the ICQRF Department) initiated proceedings, followed by presentations from Andrea Di Nicola (University of Trento, Director of CSSC and scientific coordinator of VERIFOOD. responsible for criminological activities), Massimo Donelli (University of Trento, Member of the Board of CSSC, responsible for ICT activities within VERIFOOD), Elena Rusconi (University of Trento, Scientific Coordinator of the Trento branch of the CSSC, responsible for cognitive science activities within VERIFOOD), and Roberto Flor (University of Verona, Scientific Coordinator of the Verona branch of the CSSC, responsible for juridical activites within VERIFOOD).
The event also featured addresses from Dep. Paolo De Castro, Emilio Gatto (General Director – DG for the prevention and fight against agri-food fraud – MASAF), Oreste Gerini (General Director – DG for the promotion of agri-food quality – MASAF), Mauro Rosati (General Director Origin), and Giangiacomo Gallarati Scotti Bonaldi (President FEDERDOC).
