Planning, Implementing, and Managing Urban Security Solutions

Advanced Training Course for Executives and Officials of Local Police Forces in the Veneto Region

Starting on 6 June, a free Advanced Training Course will be launched, designed specifically for Executives and Officials of Local Police Forces in the Veneto Region. The course is organised by the CSSC (Interuniversity Centre for Security and Crime Studies) with the support of the Veneto Region.

The course aims to provide advanced, interdisciplinary skills in urban security, enabling participants to identify and analyse security issues in their local context, design appropriate and sustainable responses—also participatory and integrated—and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of implemented measures.

The broader goal is to promote innovative knowledge, methods, and tools for the strategic, multidisciplinary, and long-term planning, implementation, and management of urban security solutions. The course draws on legal, sociological, criminological, and technological perspectives.

The course will be held at the Department of Law of the University of Verona and will also be accessible online via hybrid delivery.

Participation is free of charge and there is no maximum number of participants. However, registration is required by 30 May 2025 by sending an email to the course secretariat: Dr Federica Delaini (federica.delaini@univr.it) and Dr Rosa Maria Vadalà (rosamaria.vadala@univr.it).

A certificate of attendance will be issued to participants who attend at least 75% of the course.

The Veneto Region,” commented Regional Councillor for Security Cristiano Corazzari, “firmly believes in the importance of training dedicated to Local Police forces, which play an increasingly crucial role in urban security. In a rapidly evolving field like security, keeping up with developments in both technology and legislation is essential. For this reason, every year under Regional Law no. 24 of 2020 on Local Police and Security Policies, we allocate resources to diversify training activities to meet all needs—from agents to senior officials. In this case, we are presenting a high-level training course made possible by the CSSC Interuniversity Centre of the Universities of Verona and Trento, aimed at officials and senior personnel.
